We'd have a similar concept of if it doesn't work find a way to make it spectacular kind of thing. Of course these wouldn't be myths, or reasonable. Nuking the moon for example wouldn't do much except be awesome.

Still, can you imagine the ratings? Advertising could be as simple as can be.

You could have a whole two hour preshow about how it's being done, scientists objecting, protests and etc. Arrange parties at observatories or telescope parties and etc.

but I have read about it. It sounds like a good idea, except for the whole horking with the earth's rotation.
I think I'll have to put that on the problematic list.
