I prefer neutral ground knockout games overall, because it seems to me that generically "home advantage" isn't what it used to be. As such the rationale for "away goals" sort of falls away.

However, them's the rules and as you say, if you can't win at home you don't deserve to go through. Now to work on scabbing a ticket...

But I've wondered whether goal difference could come into it more when it comes to deciding who goes up. It's certainly the measure of a team. Might stop boring Chelsea-type tactics as well.

That was the worst radio programme I've ever listened to :)
We might be able to pull it back if we play much, much better, we were really shit.
Seemed the team were intimidated by their own supporters, which would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.

Everton played as if they were in quicksand at Fiorentina, but then battered them in the return leg at Goodison. Given that we then went out on penalties and played the second leg at home, I'm not sure how helpful this post is supposed to be, but you get my point. It's still possible.
