We regret that Wendy's cannot provide product calorie information to residents or customers in New York City. The New York City Department of Health passed a regulation requiring restaurants that already provide calorie information to post product calories on their menu boards -- using the same type size as the product listing.

Some "financial expert" on public radio this morning:

What's happened of course is a panic. And a panic just reflects a quantum change in people's thinking. And it can change as quickly going back the other way if all of a sudden people realize that the sky isn't falling.

A quantum change, so that is like a, the... er... what?

One sure way to cure a gaming addiction is to play a game where an increase in difficulty correlates with an increase in the annoyance factor.

I have graduated to Noble — feel free to snicker — in Civilization IV. There are five more difficulty levels above this?

For some reason I can't install Alpha Centauri on my Athlon 64. Nor can you install The Neverhood on a windows box more recent than Win98. So I put together a new desktop made out of an old motherboard and other assorted hardware.

After months of erratic behavior, I finally decided to retire my laser printer. It was one of those budget Samsung printers you can get for less than $200, and it had a long and productive life.

One of main problems with electronic devices that have moving parts is that you are much more likely to have a mechanical failure long before any electronic components fail. That's because a lot of the parts are made of plastic that can bend or break. Take electric shavers, for example: the piece that connects the motor to the blade mechanism is usually plastic. It doesn't matter how much extra you pay for the rechargeable battery or the charging stand, one day that piece of plastic is going to break.
