(My wife has an iMac and we use iPhoto to sort photos from our iKodak iCamera.)

I believe Adobe has ~~cloned~~ ~~copied~~ ~~adapted~~ independently developed an application similar to iPhoto, called "photoshop album" - and it has a free download.

Caveat: I have not tried it, so I can't comment on the indexing abilities. I'm assuming that they are at least as good as iPhoto - which uses the same kind of organizing model that iTunes uses, plus user-defined tags/keywords. Looking at Adobe's website it sounds like they may have turned it into more of a ultra-primative Photoshop, I dunno.
